The Beauty And Complexity Of Human Relationships in ACT productions

ACT (A Contemporary Theatre) is presenting “Until the Flood,” a powerful play by Dael Orlandersmith. A gripping and poetic exploration of the aftermath of the 2014 Ferguson riots,“Until the Flood” takes on the events of the 2014 Ferguson, Missouri, protests and subsequent riots in the wake of the shooting death of Michael Brown by a police officer.

The play is a series of interviews with people affected by the protests and riots, including Brown’s mother, local activists, and police officers. As a powerful drama about human relationships in the face of disaster, “Until the Flood” is a deeply affecting and humanizing look at a community struggling to heal in the face of tragedy.

The play is a series of monologues that jump in time and location, from the murder to the protests to the trial. Michael’s friends, family, and the people who knew the officer or who influenced the outcome of the trial, tell their stories. The mix of poetry, powerful imagery, and raw emotion creates a moving portrayal of the events.

This stunning theatrical one-act experience is an exploration of human relationships and the choices we make. It is a play about the depth of love, and the depth of loss.
